Widzew Łódź announces that goalkeeper Maciej Kikolski is changing clubs and will soon move to Wieczysta Kraków. This surprising loan to the Ekstraklasa newcomer gives Kikolski a chance for regular play. The goalkeeper joined Widzew last summer but only played nine matches in the past season. His last appearance was in December, and in the spring round, he served as a backup for Bartłomiej Drągowski.
Wieczysta Kraków secured an option to buy the 22-year-old goalkeeper at the end of the loan period. For Kikolski, this will be another opportunity to prove his skills in the Ekstraklasa, following his previous stint at Radomiak and his association with Legia Warsaw, where he did not debut in the first team.
In Kraków, he will compete with Antoni Mikułko, who was the starting goalkeeper for Wieczysta in the previous I liga season. Mikułko did not miss a minute of play during the season, contributing to his team's promotion. His current contract expires at the end of June, but there is an option to extend the cooperation.
Widzew Łódź hopes that Kikolski's loan will help him develop further and gain experience, which could benefit the club in the future. Fans in Łódź are eagerly awaiting his return and any further steps in his career.
This loan is part of Widzew's strategy to give young players a chance to play in the Ekstraklasa, which can bring benefits to both them and the club in the long run.
