Widzew Łódź is fighting for survival in Ekstraklasa, and the fate of the club from Łódź in the top league will be decided in the last series of games. Aleksandar Vuković, who took over the club after Igor Jovicević, has not yet secured survival with the club. Already on Saturday, Widzew will play at home against Piast Gliwice, Vuković's former club. Moreover, the Gliwice team's coach is Daniel Myśliwiec, the former coach of the Łódź team. Both coaches are fighting for survival, and the winner of this match will stay in Ekstraklasa for another year. One thing must be said straightforwardly - neither the results nor the style of play justify Vuković. The Serb has achieved four wins in ten games, but the average of 1.5 points per game is not what Robert Dobrzycki and the fans had hoped for. Especially since the games with Widzew's participation are simply ugly, dull... Just - boring. It was interesting only in the 32nd round, when the Łódź team beat Lechia Gdańsk 3:1, and also at the beginning of Vuković's work in Łódź, when Widzew won against Lech 2:1. In this context, it would not be surprising if Robert Dobrzycki were looking for a new coach. Although Vuković's contract with Widzew expires in June 2027, there are rumors in the media that the Serb might part ways with the team after the end of the 25/26 season. These reports were denied by Widzew's press spokesman, Jakub Dyktyński, who published a post on the X portal: Considering the ongoing transfer rumors, I would like to remind you that Widzew Łódź is not conducting any talks to hire new coaches or players. The most important thing is the next game at Sercu Łodzi - he emphasized. The last round of Ekstraklasa is scheduled for Saturday, May 23. All games will start at 17:30. In the fight for survival, apart from Widzew and Piast, Lechia and Cracovia are still in the running. Arka Gdynia and Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza are already certain to be relegated.
